Monday 05th May 2008 The Britcar A1 Brands GP weekend started badly, electrical issues meant the engine was only running on 5 cylinders but RSS performance worked their magic and sourced the problem and the engine was soon back to full strength. However, missing qualifying meant that we had to start at the very back of a very packed 50 car grid! XL's 2nd driver Steve Bell started race 1 and soon made up ground putting in some stunning laps and gaining fastest lap of all the Porsche's, Dom Evans then took over and maintained the position and finished in 24th overall, 26 places made up, a feat in intself. Race 2 saw us starting 24th and again Steve Bell pushed hard and took 1st place after his 30 minute stint. Dom Evans then took over and matched the class leading pace lap for lap, however a badly called stop go penalty pushed the car from 1st in class to 4th in class. Dom Evans put in some great lap times and was soon into 3rd place with 4 laps to go, 3rd place was being held by the Piers Maserati 996 GT3 and slowly the gap came down. On the very last lap Dom Evans took a lunge up the inside at Druids and contact was made but the place was gained and the XL Raceparts Porsche finished an incredible 2nd in Class. Dom Evans said "The weekend started badly and thanks to the superb efforts of RSS and Steve's impressive pace we managed to turn it around and make something happen, i'm over the moon and at last we are back where we belong...on the podium << Back |
